During renovation
There is an indispensable step
That is, choosing wood-based panels.
The reason for choosing this topic today
It's because when people choose wood panels for their homes...
Often, people end up confused when making a choice.
In fact, in our daily lives
Cabinets, cupboards, beds, tables and chairs, walls, and even ceilings
Both can use wood-based panels.
What kind of board material is suitable for what kind of scenario?
How should you choose the wood panels used in your home renovation?
Today we'll be reviewing and explaining some key points.
The choice of board material is related to environmental protection, health and safety.
Therefore, material selection is very important.
There are all kinds of boards on the market.
Specifically, they can be categorized as follows:
Particleboard
Solid wood particleboard is a type of chipboard made from wood or logs. The logs are broken down, with fine wood fibers on both sides and long wood fibers sandwiched in the middle. These fibers are then glued together under heat and pressure. It is currently the most widely used type of particleboard, and because a moisture-resistant agent is added, it is also called moisture-resistant board.
MDF
Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is a type of board made from wood fibers or other plant fibers. These fibers are crushed into chips, processed, and then coated with synthetic resin. The mixture is then pressed under heat and pressure. However, it has relatively poor moisture resistance and weak nail-holding power.
Multi-layer board
Multi-layer boards are made by gluing together solid wood veneers. They use cross-laminated plywood as the base material, with a surface of high-quality solid wood veneer or engineered wood, and are manufactured through several processes. They can be used in various furniture and decoration projects. Compared to MDF and particleboard, multi-layer boards use much less glue, resulting in a higher environmental protection index, stronger nail-holding power, and less susceptibility to cracking. The solid wood veneer surface material also has the natural texture and feel of real wood, offering greater choice. Therefore, they are highly favored by consumers.
plywood
Blockboard, also known as plywood or blockboard, is made by gluing together two veneers with wood strips in between. Blockboard has good nail-holding power, high strength, and a hard texture, and also offers sound absorption and heat insulation.
Where are different types of boards suitable for use?
01. Particleboard with moisture-proof technology is mostly used in kitchens and bathrooms.
02. The mainstream materials for storage cabinets and wardrobes are still plywood, particleboard, and blockboard.
03. MDF also comes in different densities, such as high, medium and low, and can be used for furniture, especially door panels. Nowadays, most household furniture uses door panels, while commercial furniture is mainly made of MDF. MDF can also be used to create decorative shapes.
04. Room doors are generally made of molded doors and solid wood composite doors.
05. Wooden ceilings, because they require a certain amount of nail-holding power, are usually made of solid wood, plywood, or blockboard.
