Eco-friendly boards are among the most popular decorative building materials today because they don't require painting, are easy to use, and offer good performance, including scratch resistance, wear resistance, and water resistance. At first glance, they appear to be particularly durable, but excessive force can still damage them and affect their usability. Below, we'll discuss their use from three aspects: transportation, storage, and usage.
transportation:
1. The product surface has a decorative effect, and it should be handled with care during transportation and handling.
2. During transportation, the board must not be exposed to rain or water. It must be placed in a ventilated and dry place to prevent mold, deformation, and fading caused by dampness or sun exposure.
store:
1. When storing in a warehouse or at a construction site, avoid mixing with substances that exceed formaldehyde emission standards (such as formaldehyde-contaminated boards, flooring, etc.) to prevent secondary pollution of the boards by free formaldehyde.
2. Use the product promptly after opening the packaging. If the usage period is too long, pack the product that is not currently in use properly, and place complete pads and covers on the bottom and top layers of the panels to prevent the outermost finished product from warping and deforming due to uneven moisture content caused by long-term exposure to a humid environment.
use:
On-site requirements:
1. This product is a non-structural board material. During use, it should be applied to areas where mechanical balance is required to avoid deformation or breakage due to excessive external force.
2. This product is for indoor use only and is not suitable for outdoor landscaping or the production of related wooden products.
3. Before use, check whether the product's specifications, dimensions, moisture content, formaldehyde emission level, and appearance quality (such as cracking, bubbling, transparent bottom, carbonization, wormholes, etc.) meet the quality requirements. Only if there are no abnormalities can the product be processed and used.
3. During the decoration or woodwork production process, the construction environment should be kept clean. Handle with care during transportation to avoid scratching the surface.
4. When cutting products, the main saw and the marking bottom saw should be used simultaneously to avoid chipping on the back edge.
5. Do not use rough cleaning tools to wipe the surface, and do not drag sharp objects on the surface to avoid scratching it.
6. Do not use cleaning agents containing strong corrosive substances to wipe the board surface.
7. Do not use in places exposed to direct sunlight to prevent fading of the board surface due to long-term ultraviolet radiation.
Application instructions/requirements:
1. Ecological boards are used in interior decoration and customization projects. The room should be kept at a certain level of dryness. If the humidity is high during the rainy season and woodlice spread to the surface of the product, it is unrelated to the material or performance of the product and is caused by the influence of environmental humidity.
2. Ecological boards are made of wood and contain various wood extracts, mostly aliphatic compounds, terpenes or terpenoids, aromatic compounds, etc. The wood smell they release is a natural component and does not belong to volatile harmful substances such as formaldehyde or TVOC.
3. For all types of wood products and custom-made furniture using eco-friendly boards as the base material for indoor use, the indoor formaldehyde concentration should be tested according to the national standard "Indoor Air Quality Standard" GB/T18883-2002. Simple formaldehyde testers should not be used to represent the formaldehyde content in the air. Commercially available formaldehyde testers have electrochemical sensors that are affected by the odor of wood, small molecule gases, and alcohol-based fragrances, leading to falsely high formaldehyde test results. The environmental performance of the boards should be based on the formaldehyde emission level indicated on their label.
4. When custom-made furniture using eco-board as the base material is used in northern regions during the heating season (winter), the air humidity is too low (below 30%), resulting in an extremely dry environment. Combined with the high indoor temperature caused by heating (around 24℃), this easily leads to cracking of the wood panels. Therefore, the following suggestions are made: 1) During the installation of custom-made furniture, maintain good indoor ventilation, ideally at around 15℃; 2) After renovation, if no one is living in the room, place a basin of water or turn on a humidifier to increase air humidity, and open windows regularly, ideally maintaining a room temperature of around 15℃; 3) In winter heating environments, place more basins of water indoors, grow green plants, or turn on a humidifier to increase indoor relative humidity, improve comfort, and reduce surface quality defects in the wood materials caused by dry air.
