Plywood is a type of man-made wood

Due to its excellent performance and practicality

It has been widely used in the field of housing construction.

High-quality plywood

There are certain requirements regarding the structure and number of layers.

01. Two major principles of plywood

In the processing and manufacturing of plywood, in order to minimize the anisotropy of natural wood and make the plywood uniform in properties and stable in shape, the plywood structure needs to follow two principles: one is symmetry, and the other is that the fibers of adjacent veneer layers are perpendicular to each other.

The principle of symmetry requires that the veneers on both sides of the center plane of a plywood be symmetrical in terms of wood properties, veneer thickness, number of layers, fiber direction, and moisture content. Within the same sheet of plywood, veneers of the same species and thickness can be used, or veneers of different species and thicknesses can be used, but symmetrical veneers must have the same species and thickness.

Natural wood is prone to cracking along the grain, while plywood is a laminated wood with interlaced perpendicular layers, so there's no need to worry about cracking when nailing or screwing in screws. Due to the balanced structural characteristics of plywood, the forces on adjacent veneers can cancel each other out, thus reducing warping caused by anisotropy and expansion and contraction due to moisture.

02. Is it true that the more layers of plywood, the better?

Plywood is usually made into

Odd-numbered floors such as 3, 5, and 7

So here's the question:

With a fixed thickness

Is it true that the more layers of plywood, the better?

The more layers a plywood has, the better it improves the anisotropy of the wood. However, more layers also mean more glue is used, requiring more environmentally friendly glue to meet the requirements.

Fuqing LVL, in collaboration with one research institute and three universities, has developed a resin adhesive with a formaldehyde emission level of ≤0.025mg/m³ after 65 factory tests and 18 technical improvements, promoting product upgrades through green and environmentally friendly practices.

In addition, the more layers there are, the thinner the veneer becomes. This places higher demands on the type of wood and the production process. Therefore, plywood with more layers will have higher quality and price.

Fuqing LVL regards quality as the lifeline of the company, selecting natural raw materials, employing intelligent production, and assigning dedicated personnel to ensure quality supervision throughout the entire process. Fuqing LVL's plywood has gained favor with customers at home and abroad due to its high quality and cost-effectiveness, and it ranks first in sales volume for its product category in Japan.
