Nearly 80% of these deaths occurred in residential buildings, indicating that residential fires often cause a higher death toll. According to the "Code for Fire Protection Design of High-Rise Civil Buildings" and other relevant regulations, the interior decoration of high-rise hotels, restaurants, and hospital wards should use non-combustible or flame-retardant materials. This shows that relevant laws and regulations effectively control fires. However, these regulations only mandate this for public entertainment venues and high-rise civil buildings. Civil buildings, which have the highest mortality rate, are not subject to this requirement, posing a significant fire safety hazard to consumers in the event of a fire.
