Why do most consumers choose plywood for furniture making?

Nowadays, most people use multi-layer solid wood boards as the raw material for making furniture in home decoration. So why are multi-layer solid wood boards so popular with consumers?

The main reason is that multi-layer solid wood boards have some advantages that other types of boards do not have. Taking currently qualified multi-layer solid wood boards as an example, they have many advantages:

From a structural perspective

engineered wood multilayer board

Multi-layer boards are made of multiple layers of plywood arranged in a crisscross pattern as the base material, with a surface of high-quality solid wood veneer or engineered wood, and are produced through several processes such as cold pressing, hot pressing, sanding, and curing.

Due to its unique manufacturing process, including cross-laminated bonding and high-temperature, high-pressure bonding, multi-layer boards possess not only the inherent properties of the wood itself (as the base material), but also characteristics such as stable strength, high nail-holding power, strong compressive strength, resistance to deformation, and resistance to cracking. This results in furniture with better quality and a longer lifespan.

From an environmental perspective

During the pressing process, multi-layer boards are structurally very stable because they are made by gluing veneers together longitudinally and transversely and pressing them under high temperature and pressure. They do not require a large amount of glue to enhance their stability, thus reducing the use of glue, which is the main source of formaldehyde in boards.

Secondly, the adhesive used is a key factor. Xin Hongkuan uses E0-grade environmentally friendly adhesive, which it independently developed, during the board production process. The adhesive itself already meets environmental standards. In addition, the production process involves high temperature and high pressure, PVC edge sealing, and other processes, which reduce the formaldehyde content and ensure that the formaldehyde release of the boards is completely below the environmental standards, making the products greener and more environmentally friendly.

In terms of cost performance

The emergence of plywood can be described as a great revolution in the board market. In terms of price and its own characteristics, plywood offers the best cost performance compared to other board products.

Compared to the above, there is an ecological board.

Ecological boards are better than multi-layer boards in terms of strength and wear resistance, but the difference is limited. However, ecological boards are much more expensive than multi-layer boards.

In comparison, there are particleboard and other boards, but particleboard is much worse than plywood in terms of both physical and environmental performance. In particular, particleboard is made from wood chips, wood fibers and grass fibers, and a lot of glue is needed to bond them together, so its environmental performance is questionable.

In comparison, plywood is the perfect material for making furniture cabinets, both in terms of price and quality.
