In recent years, customized furniture has become increasingly popular. The reason for its market favor lies in its ability to be tailor-made, making efficient use of space, featuring more human-centered design, and being environmentally friendly, simple, stylish, and professional. However, wood panels, as the core material used in customized furniture, are the most important and widely used component in its structure.
1. Different grades use different types of boards.
How to judge the board material of custom furniture? Generally, you look at the cross-section of the sample. From the cross-section, you can see that plywood consists of two or four layers of veneer (some thicker ones use more than four layers of veneer) tightly bonded to a solid wood core. Good quality plywood has a flat core cross-section without gaps. MDF is made of fine fibers pressed together, which are tightly bonded and relatively heavy. Particleboard has a wood granular structure, but the bonding is not tight enough, and it is lighter. Poor quality particleboard may even have small pores. Multi-layer board is made of multiple veneers glued together, usually three or five layers.
2. Choose environmentally friendly building materials.
Professional custom furniture manufacturers use environmentally friendly boards that meet national testing standards, while some manufacturers use inferior boards without testing reports, posing a potential threat to human health. Using environmentally friendly boards in branded custom products gives you peace of mind.
3. Check the quality of the veneer on the board.
Some wardrobes may look decent on the surface, but a light scratch with a fingernail will leave noticeable marks. These custom-made furniture pieces often use low-priced wardrobes on the market with surfaces covered in vinyl paper or fancy paperboard, which have poor wear resistance. A good wardrobe body is inseparable from a good board material; using brand-name boards will give you an unexpectedly pleasant home experience.
4. Examine the workmanship of the edge banding on the boards.
The company uses precision panel saws to cut the boards, ensuring no chipping on the edges. It also provides matching edge banding strips to effectively prevent moisture from penetrating the board.
When it comes to custom furniture, take my advice: choosing branded wood panels is always a safe bet!
