Red oak is beautiful and versatile, making it a favorite among designers and architects, and it's frequently used in furniture design and construction. It's also popular in flooring, joinery, and export markets. While some red oak has a distinct pink or red hue, some products look very similar to white oak. This similarity is especially noticeable after red oak has been treated, resulting in a product known as "blended oak."
The large-scale production of red oak ensures its widespread use. Coast Freeway supplies not only red oak lumber but also red oak logs to meet the diverse needs of its customers.
General Description
Red oak sapwood is white to light brown, while the heartwood is typically pink. Red oak and white oak look very similar, but due to their finer radial grain and more porous end grains, the color difference is less noticeable. The wood is mostly straight-grained with a coarse texture.
Processing properties
Red oak is well-suited for machining; nails and screws can be used, although pre-drilling is preferred. It also dries and polishes very well. Slow drying yields the best results, reducing the chance of cracking and warping. It has high shrinkage and is susceptible to variations in humidity levels.
Durability
It is slightly intolerant to heartwood corrosion, but treatment with preservatives is relatively easy.

Buildings, furniture, flooring, architectural interiors, interior joinery, stairs and molds, doors, kitchen cabinets, paneling and coffins.
