Besides the insect infestation, gaps, and mold mentioned last time, there are some other troublesome problems with solid wood flooring. Today, we will continue to discuss some other common problems with solid wood flooring.
01. Sound
After solid wood flooring is installed, it may creak and groan when walked on, a sound that can be quite jarring and even a little unsettling. This creaking is often caused by improper installation. During installation, it's crucial to ensure a secure connection between the joists and the floorboards, and between the floorboards and the joists. The number and length of nails used should also be appropriate. Furthermore, excessive spacing between the joists or high moisture content can cause the flooring to dry, shrink, and loosen, also resulting in creaking. Therefore, controlling the joist spacing and moisture content is essential.
02. Color difference
Many consumers have noticed a color difference between the flooring they purchased from a specialty store and the flooring installed in their homes. Solid wood flooring is made from natural materials, and color variations are unavoidable. Even products of the same species, packaging, and specifications may have slight differences. To solve this problem, simply adjust the installation order and color coordination. Lay similar colors together, creating a gradient from light to dark or vice versa, achieving a visually appealing result.
03. Start the drum
Some solid wood floors develop bulges after installation due to dampness in the installation environment or water seepage, resulting in an unsightly appearance and significant financial loss. To prevent this, flooring should not be installed immediately after the project is completed. If the room is in a humid environment, choose flooring with excellent moisture resistance and pay attention to its moisture content, ensuring it is neither too low nor too high.
Solid wood flooring is very precious, so if any problems arise, please address the specific issue and take good care of it!
