Wardrobes are an essential item in people's lives. When making a wardrobe, we need to choose the right board material, as the quality of the board material directly affects the quality of the wardrobe. So, what kind of board material should we choose? Today, we'll share some tips on how to select wardrobe board materials. Let's take a look.

1. Check if the boards are made of genuine materials.

Many low-quality, counterfeit products manufactured by small workshops are now appearing on the market, designed to deceive ordinary buyers. Standard panel cabinets should be at least 17mm thick. Small workshops often use particleboard as high-density fiberboard in their advertising, falsely claiming the cabinets are only 16mm thick while telling buyers they are 18mm. Standard back panels should be 9mm thick, and door panels should also be 9mm thick.

2. Examine the cut surface of the board.

The easiest way to distinguish between high-density fiberboard (HDF) and particleboard in a wardrobe is to examine the cross-section of the board. HDF has tightly bound fine fibers, resulting in higher density and greater weight. HDF can withstand significant pressure and has a longer lifespan. Particleboard, on the other hand, has a less dense structure, is lighter, has lower load-bearing capacity, and a shorter lifespan.

3. Also check whether the substrate of the board meets environmental protection standards.

The free formaldehyde content in the board should be ≤0.5 mg/L, which falls under the European E0 environmental protection standard. Boards of this standard will not harm human health. You can open all the cabinet doors and take out all the drawers to check for a pungent odor. If the odor is strong, it indicates a very high formaldehyde content. You can also check the seller's material testing certificate to see if it has a certificate of conformity from the National Artificial Quality Inspection Center.
