With the continuous development of the wood-based panel market, more and more types of panels are appearing on the market. Among them, eco-friendly panels are the most popular. However, in the mixed bag of building materials markets, how do we distinguish between good and bad eco-friendly panels, and what factors affect their quality?
01. Appearance
As the primary material for custom furniture today, the strong decorative effect of eco-friendly boards is their most important advantage. High-quality eco-friendly boards have a consistent color and harmonious appearance. Furthermore, eco-friendly boards have excellent nail-holding power, possessing many superior properties that natural wood cannot match. Furniture made from them does not require painting; a natural protective film forms on the surface, making it wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, environmentally friendly, and aesthetically pleasing.
02. Structure
Currently, there are three types of eco-friendly boards on the market. The first type is made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) with adhesive paper laminated on it. This type of board has a lower environmental protection coefficient, poor nail holding power, and is prone to deformation. The second type is made of plywood as the base material. Although this type of eco-friendly board is of better quality than the first type, it is still prone to delamination. The third type is made of solid wood board with adhesive paper laminated on it. This type of eco-friendly board has higher requirements for the process and has very good stability and bonding.
03. Adhesives
Since all eco-friendly boards use adhesives, and inferior adhesives can lead to excessive formaldehyde emissions, the quality of the adhesive directly affects the quality of the eco-friendly board. E0-grade eco-friendly boards use F4-star non-formaldehyde thermoplastic resin instead of glue in their production, resulting in a strong and stable bond and lower formaldehyde emissions in the finished product.
Of course, this is just a brief overview of some factors that affect the quality of eco-friendly boards. While understanding the quality of the boards is important, the most crucial factor to consider is the formaldehyde emission level of the boards used in furniture. For consumers lacking relevant professional experience, choosing branded eco-friendly boards is the best option!
