The permissible formaldehyde emission standard for environmentally labeled engineered wood products is 0.20 mg/m³. my country's "Formaldehyde Emission Limits in Indoor Decoration and Renovation Materials - Engineered Wood Products and Their Products" (GB18580-2017), which officially came into effect on May 1, 2018, introduced new regulations for formaldehyde emission from engineered wood products: the E2 grade was abolished, retaining only the E1 grade, with a formaldehyde emission limit of 0.124 mg/m³. So what is the E0 grade that we commonly refer to? The E0 grade environmental standard represents the highest international health standard. Our national standards only have an E1 grade, not an E0 grade. Environmental data must be measured in a laboratory to obtain accurate data. So how can consumers ensure peace of mind when purchasing products?
First, when buying panel furniture, be sure to carefully check the product labels and certificates of conformity. Avoid buying products with incomplete labels or no certificates to prevent counterfeit or substandard products and reduce formaldehyde emissions. Don't believe salespeople who tout "E0-grade" furniture; most domestically produced furniture does not meet this standard. Second, while ensuring basic functionality, minimize the number of furniture pieces in the room to reduce formaldehyde emissions. Finally, after purchasing furniture, ensure good ventilation to accelerate formaldehyde release.
