Precautions for installing Roman column moldings:
1. Fixing Roman column wooden moldings: When conditions permit, adhesive should be used for fixing. If nailing is necessary, a nail gun is preferred, and the nail head should not be exposed when nailing. The nail should be placed in the groove of the wooden molding or on the side away from the line of sight. For example, when the height of the semi-circular wooden molding is less than 1.6M, it should be nailed slightly below the center line of the molding; when the height is greater than 1.7M, it should be nailed slightly above the center line of the solid wood molding.
2. Wood strip splicing: You can first use the straight splicing method or the corner splicing method.
① Straight splicing method: This involves cutting the wooden strips at a 30 or 45-degree angle at the joint, applying glue to the cross-section, and then splicing them together. The splicing should be smooth and without misalignment.
② Corner splicing method: Place the line on a 45-degree angle cutter and cut it with a fine saw (ensuring the cut is seamless). Apply glue to the cut surface and then splice it together, being careful not to misalign or separate the lines.
3. Precautions: The joint of the wooden decorative molding should be away from eye level and placed in an inconspicuous position indoors.
4. Different types of wood trim have different widths and lengths. It is best to ask a carpenter to calculate the cost before purchasing to avoid unnecessary waste of wood trim.
How to Choose High-Quality Roman Column Molding
The straightness of the wooden moldings for Roman columns is an important factor in selection, and the quality of the back should also be examined. From the back of the Roman column, distinguish the wood grain, the amount of burrs, and carefully observe the smoothness of the decorative surface, whether the surface is uniform, whether the color is consistent, and whether there are any color differences or discoloration.
