Wood-based panels are a commonly used material in decoration, and everyone should pay close attention to their maintenance. Because of the different structural characteristics of wood, the maintenance methods for different types of wood flooring vary greatly. In winter, wood flooring is prone to moisture loss, making it very susceptible to cracking and warping. Today, we'll discuss how to maintain different types of engineered wood panels as the weather turns colder. Let's take a look.
1. Solid wood flooring
When cleaning solid wood floors, use a wrung-out cotton mop. It's crucial to maintain a stable temperature and humidity level indoors. Ideally, the temperature should not exceed 28 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be between 50% and 70%, never falling below 40%. Only under these conditions can the wood floor maintain a relatively stable state. Keep the floor surface dry and maintain proper care. For daily cleaning, a wrung-out cotton mop is sufficient. For stubborn stains, use a neutral detergent to wipe the floor, then wipe with a wrung-out cotton mop. Do not use highly acidic, alkaline, or organic solvents such as gasoline. To ensure the beauty of your solid wood floor and extend its lifespan, wax it at least twice a year.
2. Laminate flooring
Laminate flooring can be mopped with a damp mop. In winter, the use and maintenance of laminate flooring is very simple, but it shouldn't be taken lightly. Generally speaking, it's important to appropriately increase the surface humidity of the wood flooring by mopping with a damp mop. This increases surface humidity and can effectively prevent problems such as gaps and cracks in the flooring. Furthermore, the moisture content of wood flooring changes due to fluctuations in ambient humidity and temperature, which can affect the expansion and contraction of the laminate flooring. Therefore, it's crucial to maintain a reasonable moisture content.
3. Multi-layer solid wood flooring
Solid wood multi-layer flooring must be protected from direct sunlight and collisions with hard or heavy objects, otherwise the paint layer may be damaged or scratched. When moving furniture, do not drag or pull it. If heavy furniture needs to be moved indoors, a protective layer must be laid on the floor. If there are stains, be sure to use a mild detergent or warm water to clean them.
