Choosing the right materials is crucial for home renovation. Hello everyone, I'm Xiaoyi. Today, I'll be discussing why eco-friendly boards are so popular in the market. Also, I'd like to add one more thing:
Any ecological board that doesn't discuss the core material is simply a scam!
1. What is an eco-friendly board?
"Ecological board" is a term used by people in the board industry.
The national standard name is: Impregnated paper-faced engineered wood panels
Of course, it has many other names, such as melamine decorative panel, paint-free board, double-sided decorative panel, melamine board, etc.
As the name suggests, the decorative paper is soaked in melamine resin adhesive, dried and cured, and then two pieces are hot-pressed onto the surface of the artificial board.
Nowadays, eco-friendly boards come with cores made from various types of engineered wood, such as medium fiberboard, plywood, OSB, plywood, and large cores. Among these, the most commonly used are large cores made from various rare woods. This production process allows eco-friendly boards to inherit the natural wood characteristics of the original wood.
For example, core materials made from high-end wood such as Northeast poplar and Malacca wood have always been the preferred choice in the production of eco-friendly boards.
Northeast poplar wood has a pleasant fragrance. Because it grows in frigid regions, it has a high wood density. This characteristic translates into strong nail-holding power in eco-boards, making them less prone to deformation and providing excellent stability in home decoration and furniture making.
Therefore, choosing a high-quality log material as the core material of the board is a very important matter, as it relates to the quality of the eco-board.
Good quality boards consistently use high-end, premium woods such as Northeast poplar and Malacca paulownia as the core material for eco-friendly boards, resulting in eco-friendly boards that are highly favored by consumers.
2. Are eco-friendly boards environmentally friendly?
We've already covered the basics of wood-based panels; now let's talk about the environmental performance of eco-friendly panels.
First of all, I want to say that most boards on the market release formaldehyde.
The principle is quite simple: the amount of formaldehyde is determined when the core of the board is formed; that is to say, the amount of formaldehyde wrapped in the decorative paper is fixed.
However, through special production processes, eco-friendly boards can effectively limit the release of formaldehyde to a completely harmless level. In other words, the amount of formaldehyde released by truly environmentally friendly eco-friendly boards has no impact on the human body.
Why is that?
Because the release of formaldehyde is restricted after the eco-board is covered with decorative paper, the formaldehyde release is slowed down, and the measured value will definitely be lower. This is similar to a traffic jam. When the lanes become narrower and fewer, the traffic flow is naturally smaller, and the formaldehyde gets stuck inside and cannot escape.
For example, eco-friendly boards are produced using advanced manufacturing processes, which limit formaldehyde emissions to within the board itself. The formaldehyde emission level is far below the limit standard for the E0 environmental protection grade, which is equivalent to the amount of formaldehyde contained in a glass of beer.
Another point is that during the decoration process, the cutting and processing of the boards is like opening an extra channel. So even if the boards have been out of the factory for a long time, the homeowner can still taste the fresh free formaldehyde. Therefore, edge sealing is necessary. Xin Hongkuan has equipped each eco-board product with high-quality edge sealing strips of corresponding colors, which can make the products used to make furniture not only more environmentally friendly, but also without losing any aesthetic appeal.
In addition to the trace amounts of formaldehyde contained in the wood itself, another source of formaldehyde in wood-based panels is the glue!
Because a large amount of resin glue is used in the production process of ecological boards, and resin glue often contains a lot of formaldehyde.
Instead of the ordinary resin glue available on the market, we use E0-grade environmentally friendly glue that we independently developed and produced.
Eliminate the formaldehyde content of eco-friendly boards at the source to achieve environmental protection.
