When choosing building materials for custom-made furniture, most consumers tend to focus on the price, color, environmental friendliness, and performance of the boards. However, they easily overlook some details. For example, cabinet hinges are a type of hardware that is easily overlooked but plays a very important role.
Cabinet hinges, also known as "hinges," are components that connect the door panels to the cabinet body; cabinet doors and wardrobe doors are connected by these components. Although small in size, they play a very important role in furniture.
To help consumers easily purchase suitable hardware products during the home decoration process, we have launched a buffer damping hinge product.
Buffer damping hinges, also known as hydraulic hinges, are a type of hinge that utilizes the buffering properties of fluids to achieve noise reduction. Due to their superior performance compared to ordinary hinges, they are widely used in modern custom furniture making.
I. Three ways to install hinges:
1. Full Cover
The door completely covers the cabinet side panel, with a gap between them to allow the door to open securely. Straight arm 0 mm.
2. Half-cover
In this configuration, both doors share a single side panel. There is a required minimum total clearance between them. The coverage distance for each door is correspondingly reduced, necessitating the use of hinges with curved arms. Medium curve (9.5 mm).
3. Contains
In this configuration, the door is located inside the cabinet, next to the side panel. It also requires a clearance so that the door can be opened securely. A hinge with a very curved arm is needed. Large curve (16 mm).
II. Four principles for choosing high-quality hinges:
1. Check the material and weigh it.
Poor-quality hinges can cause cabinet doors to become loose and droopy over time, leaning forward and backward. High-end brand cabinet hardware almost always uses cold-rolled steel, formed in one stamping process, resulting in a solid feel and smooth surface. Furthermore, the thick surface coating makes them rust-resistant, sturdy, durable, and strong in load-bearing capacity. In contrast, inferior hinges are generally made of thin sheet metal welded together, offering almost no springback. After a short period of use, they lose their elasticity, causing cabinet doors to not close properly or even crack.
2. Observe the details
Details reveal a product's quality and determine its excellence. High-quality wardrobe hardware uses solid-feeling, smooth-surfaced components, and its design even achieves silent operation. Inferior hardware is generally made of cheap metals such as thin sheet metal, resulting in stiff cabinet doors that open and close with a harsh sound.
3. Experience the feel
Hinges of different quality feel different when used. High-quality hinges open cabinet doors with a gentler force and automatically spring back when closed to 15 degrees, with a very even rebound force. Consumers can open and close cabinet doors multiple times to experience the feel when purchasing.
4. Anti-counterfeiting logo
When purchasing furniture made from engineered wood, please use dedicated hardware products for a better user experience. Also, look for the logo on the hinges to avoid counterfeit or substandard products.
The application of high-quality damping hinges makes the opening and closing of furniture cabinet doors smoother and quieter.
Damping hinges, through hydraulic buffering technology, better adapt to the closing speed of the door, allowing it to begin closing slowly and automatically when the opening angle is no more than 60°. This reduces impact force, creating a comfortable closing effect; even when the door is closed forcefully, it will close gently, ensuring perfect and quiet cabinet door movement.
Meanwhile, the damping hinge has undergone multiple tests to ensure its service life, with an opening and closing cycle of over 100,000 times. It can withstand destructive pressure without leaking air or oil.
