" A series of problems arise from this: board warping, cracking, bubbling, and so on. It's the biggest enemy of wood products: substandard or unstable moisture content! So what is moisture content? Actually, wood under normal conditions, as well as the base material of solid wood furniture, will contain a certain amount of moisture. So what's acceptable? Let's take a look. "
The enemy of eco-friendly boards – moisture content
The presence of moisture content is a major cause of a range of problems in wood products
For eco-friendly boards, external environmental factors significantly impact their environmental friendliness. As more and more families use eco-friendly boards, their environmental friendliness and the quality of the boards themselves are receiving increasing attention from consumers. Many manufacturers are also moving towards the E0 standard. Currently, it is known that the moisture content of the boards, the humidity of the external environment, and temperature all affect the environmental friendliness of the boards.
According to relevant data, when the moisture content of engineered wood products gradually increases from 3% to 10%, the release of formaldehyde will increase significantly. Naturally, this means that within a certain range, the higher the moisture content of the product, the lower its environmental friendliness will be.
When testing board products, the National Building Materials Quality Supervision and Inspection Center found that the standard requirement for moisture content is 6.0%-14.0%. The test result for the coastal fine wood plywood was 6.3%, while the formaldehyde emission was less than 0.1 mg/L, which is far below the national standard of "less than 0.5 mg/L" for E0 grade environmental protection.
Therefore, when purchasing furniture, consumers must pay attention to whether the product meets testing standards and whether it has anti-counterfeiting labels, and rely on the test reports issued by national authoritative testing institutions.
