1. What are the differences between PVC core board, OSB, and particleboard?
OSB translates to "Oriented Strand Board" in Chinese. Canadian OSB is made from aspen, while the German OSB imported by Beixin Group is made from pine. Strand board is essentially Canadian OSB, made from Canadian aspen. Particleboard is made from wood waste and wood chips from different types of wood.
2. Are SYM board and OSB the same type of product?
OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is a trademark registered by Beixin Group in my country, importing OSB from various countries around the world. The vast majority of OSB products are made from imported pine wood, as its name suggests. It is understood that the environmental protection level of OSB is primarily E1, while Shunxin Board achieves formaldehyde-free status. Furthermore, OSB is not a product specifically developed for the Chinese market, while Shunxin Board is a product developed by TBB and NORBORD specifically for the Chinese market, with improvements made for decorative veneer panels, wardrobes, furniture, and other applications.
3. Why is this new product called Shunxinboard?
This product has four layers, three of which are oriented, with the two middle core layers aligned in the same direction. This ensures greater structural stability, hence the name "oriented core board." MDF and particleboard lack this feature. Another difference between oriented core board and ordinary boards is that it's a structural material with uniform density throughout. Previously, structural materials were generally not used for decorative purposes in the home decoration industry. Introducing oriented core board into the decoration sector allows it to better replace plywood and other similar products in terms of both functionality and aesthetics, providing greater satisfaction to consumers. Hence the name "oriented core board."
4. Why is it said that Canadian-made PVC panels have an advantage over those made in China?
Purely mechanized production processes are technologically advanced. European and American countries have developed mature production technologies and established complete patented technology systems over decades. Most domestic OSB production lines currently use outdated technologies from the 1970s and 80s, resulting in poor product quality. Even those that have introduced advanced production equipment still cannot match the quality of imported products. Without long-term technological accumulation, perfect products cannot be produced. As a leading enterprise in China's forestry industry, only by possessing sufficient technological strength can we engage in in-depth cooperation with Norbord and the Alberta Research Institute, sharing technology.
5. Why not produce PVC panels domestically?
OSB (Organic Silicon Board) is a product requiring large-scale mechanized production, demanding huge investments. A typical large-scale OSB factory requires an investment of over 400 million yuan, and profitability is impossible without reaching a certain production capacity. As you can see, the production capacity and scale of our partner NORBORD's factories are rare in China. Currently, OSB and OSB are still in their early stages in China, and investing in factory construction is unnecessary given the mature production capacity abroad.
6. Why are the raw materials for SYM board different from others?
The raw materials for Shunxin board come from the cold, old-growth forests of Canada, where the forests are entirely composed of single-species aspen trees. The wood is hard, dense, and of higher quality than that of other hybrid pine and aspen forests, and is fundamentally different from the fast-growing aspen trees planted in China. Shunxin board uses native Canadian aspen trees aged 80-120 years, with large-diameter timber exceeding 50cm, a dense texture, and planed chips 3-8cm in length.
7. Why can Canada supply large quantities of original, locally sourced aspen core boards?
Limited forestry resources fundamentally restrict the development of the domestic poplar wood industry. While poplar wood boasts a high timber utilization rate, its concentrated and massive production capacity necessitates an enormous demand for raw materials. Domestically, it is simply impossible to supply such a massive quantity of high-quality poplar. The natural poplar wood used in poplar wood production has all passed the PEFC forest certification, which is more stringent than FSC certification, ensuring a strong commitment to environmental protection from the source and safeguarding the sustainable and healthy development of our living environment.
8. Why can PVC boards come in various shapes?
Core board is a four-layer, cross-laminated, three-layer oriented structure. This three-layer structure-top layer, core layer, and bottom layer-reduces the internal stress of the wood, eliminating joints and gaps, resulting in excellent uniformity. It possesses excellent mechanical properties in both longitudinal and transverse directions. When used for larger partitions in furniture or cabinets, it completely solves the problem of bending and deformation common in other types of boards (plywood, multi-layer board, MDF, etc.). Core board is made from natural Canadian wood, boasting strong nail-holding power. More importantly, it maintains strong nail-holding power on all 360° surfaces. Due to the absence of gaps and voids, its closed and uniform structure provides superior nail-holding ability even on the sides.
9. What is the highest environmental standard that PVC core board can meet?
Shunxin board uses the same PMDI formaldehyde-free adhesive as that used in LV and GUCCI bags during its production, enjoying the same treatment as luxury brands. Even the formaldehyde naturally present in poplar wood is released during the production process. Shunxin board, however, does not release any free formaldehyde. Actual testing by the technical research institute using the desiccator method has shown that it meets formaldehyde-free standards. Houses decorated with Shunxin board will not have any unpleasant odors or irritating smells.
10. Why is it said that ductile core board has superior earthquake resistance and impact resistance?
The core board has excellent toughness, making it effective in resisting earthquakes and impacts. During an earthquake, the core board can reduce the enormous impact force thanks to its superior mechanical properties and good impact resistance.
Note: This product is primarily intended for decorative purposes in furniture and building materials. It is not suitable for use as a structural building material unless it is custom-made for a specific client.
