Choosing the right building materials is a crucial part of the renovation process, as it directly determines the quality and final look of your home. Today, we'll teach you how to select the best materials.

What are wood-based panels? Wood-based panels are what people commonly refer to as engineered wood products. They are made primarily from wood and processed into various shapes and sizes. The standard size for wood-based panels is 1220*2440mm, and the thickness ranges from 3 to 18mm. It's safe to say that almost everyone will encounter wood-based panels during the home renovation process. Common types include blockboard, plywood, engineered wood panels, laminated boards, and eco-friendly boards.

So how do you judge the quality of a board? The main performance indicators of a board include moisture content, transverse static bending strength, bonding strength, immersion peel strength, and environmental protection level.

1. Moisture content refers to the percentage of water weight in wood relative to the weight of dried wood. The level of moisture content determines the quality of wood products. When the moisture content exceeds 16%, quality problems such as blistering, cracking, warping, buckling, and discoloration are likely to occur.

2. Transverse static bending strength is a physical and mechanical property. The higher the value of this index, the stronger its resistance to bending deformation. In other words, the greater the transverse static bending strength, the stronger the board.

3. Adhesion strength refers to the degree of bonding between the surface veneer and the substrate. If the surface adhesion strength is low, there is a greater possibility of the surface veneer separating from the substrate during use.

4. Impregnation peel test involves impregnating and drying the specimen. Due to the expansion and contraction caused by moisture, stress is applied to the adhesive layer. The degree to which the adhesive layer peels off is used to determine the quality of the bonding. Poor impregnation peel performance will lead to delamination between the surface veneer and the substrate veneers during use.

5. I don't need to elaborate on the environmental protection level; everyone should understand. The boards used are green and environmentally friendly. Ecological boards have all been upgraded to E0 grade, and furniture boards have achieved further upgrades, reaching formaldehyde-free levels. If possible, please choose boards with high environmental protection levels, as controlling the environmental friendliness of the base material is crucial for a healthy overall home environment.

When choosing boards, it is recommended to consider the core material, appearance, company qualifications, and environmental protection level. This way, you can choose the boards that meet your needs.
