Practical Guide! Whole House Customization - Panel Materials

2025-11-04

Anyone who has renovated a house knows how troublesome it is to choose home decoration materials: MDF, OSB, eco-board, plywood, multi-layer board, particleboard...

Why are there so many varieties? What kind of boards are they all made of? What are the differences in their internal structures?

Today, TBB will take you into the world of whole-house customization and help you understand the differences between customized boards~

Super Core Board

Supercore boards are made by splicing poplar or eucalyptus veneers on both sides of a solid wood core substrate using a staggered splicing method. After the surface is sanded to a certain thickness, an HDF balancing layer is glued on, and a decorative layer is applied to the surface.

Natural cedar wood is moisture-proof, has good nail-holding power, strong load-bearing capacity, and is not easily deformed. It contains cedar plant essential oil (cedarol), which has a repellent effect on cockroaches and harmful insects, and has health benefits such as relieving fatigue and stress.

The balancing layer enhances the flatness of the super core board, making it more resistant to stains and moisture, and achieving a crack resistance level of 5. The cedar solid wood core and HDF balancing layer significantly extend the lifespan of the custom-made furniture super core board. It meets ENF environmental standards.

Softboard

Selected native Canadian trembling aspen trees with a growth cycle of 80-120 years and a diameter of no less than 50cm.

After being cut into slices, four layers of logs are laid out in a crisscross pattern, with the surface and core layers in a regular ratio, and the three layers laid out in a directional pattern.

With 360-degree nail-holding power, it comprehensively controls strength. Combined with steam spraying pretreatment technology, it achieves uniform and stable density. Environmental protection rating: ENF grade.

Multi-layer board

The longest-lasting 7-11 layer odd-numbered solid wood plywood is made by cross-laminated bonding under high temperature and pressure, which ensures that the board is not easily deformed due to internal stress. Its load-bearing capacity and nail-holding power are more than twice that of ordinary particleboard. It meets the European E0 environmental standard.

Particleboard

Particleboard is made by shaving and uniformly cutting branches and processing residues, then hot-pressing and gluing them together. Both sides of the board are finished with imported impregnated paper, and the surface is specially treated to effectively prevent scratches, water, fire, oil stains, and static electricity.

This year's wildly popular super core board, based on the advantages of the base material, incorporates three elements in the veneer: chitosan, nano-silicon, and nano-silver, to achieve the effects of formaldehyde removal and antibacterial properties.

Formaldehyde Removal: The formaldehyde removal mechanism of the super core board is a chemical reaction, unlike the physical adsorption of activated carbon and diatomaceous earth. It involves a complete reaction with no rebound. Through the Brownian motion of gas molecules, it achieves comprehensive absorption of formaldehyde, generating water molecules and oximes, without producing any harmful substances.

Antibacterial: Nano-silicon and silver are safe and reliable, and are widely used in medical and infant products. When applied to antibacterial and formaldehyde-removing furniture boards, they are evenly distributed in the protective layer and stabilize as the board is formed and cured, ensuring long-lasting and stable antibacterial effects and a consistently healthy furniture environment.
