How many processes does a good piece of wood go through before it reaches your home?

Almost every household has wood-based panels or furniture made from them. But have you ever wondered how these panels are produced? A small piece of wood actually goes through many processes and undergoes multiple inspections before finally reaching our homes. Let's take eco-friendly panels as an example to see how ordinary core boards are transformed into high-quality panels in Moganshan.

I. Core Board Selection

The core of the eco-board is made of high-quality fir wood strips, and the selected core strips are not allowed to have rot, holes, missing edges, or cracks. The middle board and poplar veneer are selected from products free of rot and cracks, and light-colored poplar veneer is strictly prohibited from having obvious black dead knots.

II. Production Process

Raw material sorting → First adhesive application → First cold pressing → First hot pressing → First puttying → Substrate curing → First sanding → First semi-inspection → Second sanding → Second adhesive application → Second cold pressing → Second hot pressing → Second semi-inspection → Light sanding and trimming → Substrate inspection → Finished product bonding → Finished product inspection → Packaging and warehousing

Explanation of key production processes

Raw material sorting

Remove debris (wood dust, hardened glue residue, etc.) from the board surface;

Improve the flatness of the board surface.

One-time application of adhesive

Apply adhesive to the core board and arrange it with the middle board to form a blank.

One-time hot pressing

The glue is cured using an instrument.

One-time scraping

Use putty to repair defects in the core board.

III. Testing Items

1. Surface abrasion resistance: abrasion value ≤ 80mg/100r;

2. Surface crack resistance: Level 5 or above;

3. Surface resistant to water vapor: no bumps, discoloration, or cracks;

4. Immersion peeling: The peeling length on each adhesive layer of the specimen shall not exceed 25 mm;

5. Formaldehyde emission: Meets national environmental protection standards.

See, it takes many processes and careful inspection to produce the high-quality boards we often see.
