The most commonly used timber specifications in construction are:
30*50 mm, which is what we often call 35 cubic meters, is mainly used for suspended ceilings or some internal structures.
60*90 mm, this size is rarely seen nowadays. In the past, it was mainly used to make furniture and similar products.
120*40 mm, this is what we usually call the door frame square, which is commonly used to make the door frame.
In recent years, large-scale real estate development in China has resulted in towering buildings everywhere. As buildings get taller, the demand for construction timber and lumber has been rising, leading to a shortage of timber in my country. Imports of timber have also resulted in inconsistent sizes of construction timber used domestically. From the 50×100 and 40×90 mm sizes used for the wooden frames under the house structure formwork in 1996 to today's sizes of 30×70, 32×82, 35×85, 40×60, 40×70, 40×80, and 44×64 mm, it is clear that the shortage of materials and rising prices have led to a reduction in material size, resulting in inconsistent specifications.
Nowadays, imported materials come from different places of origin, and the quality is similar. Some materials are more fragile, easily broken, and lack sufficient grip and weight, which can lead to obvious inconsistencies in size. However, the common sizes on the market are generally: 35×85, 37×87, 40×90, 45×60, 60×60, 40×70, 40×60, 38×88, 50×70, etc., and the lengths are 2 meters, 2.1 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters, 2.5 meters, etc.
It is neither a commercial building nor a residential building. Generally, single-story buildings do not use wooden formwork, but use beam base plates. The sizes are: 20×250, 20×300, 25×200, 25×250, 23×250, 23×300, 30×250, 30×300, etc., with lengths of 3 meters and 4 meters.
Common dimensions for engineering sleepers include 100×100, 200×200, 300×300, and 400×400 mm, with lengths of 2.5 meters, 3 meters, and 4 meters.
Common sizes for scaffolding planks used in construction projects include: 40×250, 40×300, 50×250, 50×300, etc.
Furniture materials are available in the following sizes: thickness 18, 20, 23, 25, 30, 45 mm, width 75, 95, 100, 120, 140, 150, 175, 235 mm, etc.
Construction timber sizes include 40*75*4000, 45*90*4000, and 50*100*4000. The overall thickness is between 40-50mm, the width is generally between 75-100mm, and the length is basically four meters. The thickness and width vary depending on the price, and the actual measured dimensions will vary. There are no fixed standards; the key is to choose the size that is suitable for a particular project.
