Everyone knows the principle that vicious price wars are a lose-lose situation, harming both sides. However, human nature is the same: everyone wants to buy high-quality, low-priced boards. If the same type of board has vastly different prices, is it because the higher-priced ones are greedy? It's perfectly normal for consumers to choose the cheaper option. So, should consumers buy the more expensive one?
Consumers should not be taken advantage of. If two different brands of the same board material have vastly different prices, it is indeed suspicious that the one offering the higher price is overcharging.
But we also need to think rationally: are the “same type of board” we see really exactly the same?
Merchants are driven by profit. Therefore, no merchant would sell at a loss; even at a low price, there must be a profit to be made, since merchants also need to make a living.
Such low prices, if they're still losing money, are either due to improved work efficiency and optimized management to reduce product costs through technological advancements; or they're cutting corners, producing counterfeit products, and then hypocritically claiming to be "selling at a loss."
Consumers hope to buy high-quality, low-priced boards, but in reality, cheaper boards are often of unreliable quality. Therefore, don't make a purchase decision based solely on price.
A friend of mine chose TBB (Tu Baobao) boards for their home renovation, mainly using eco-friendly melamine-faced boards. They bought them for around 200 yuan per sheet (you can refer to TBB's Tmall flagship store for pricing information). Later, needing three sheets, they bought melamine-faced boards locally for just over 160 yuan, claiming they were of the same quality as TBB boards. However, after the carpenter cut the boards, the scraps revealed a difference in quality between the two boards. For example, the cross-section had rotten wood strips, large gaps, bark, and a strong odor.
In reality, there are many instances of shoddy workmanship and inferior materials used in the production of boards. This is because we cannot visually assess the quality of boards when purchasing them; the true quality only becomes apparent during processing. Furthermore, boards are relatively large compared to other products, making them difficult to handle. Therefore, seeking redress after discovering quality issues can be extremely troublesome. It is therefore best to choose reputable brands like TBB when purchasing boards, as this not only guarantees product quality but also facilitates subsequent rights protection.
