Tips for buying plywood

2025-11-04

Plywood is a common type of board used in interior decoration and furniture making. So how do you choose a high-quality plywood? Today, I'll share some purchasing tips with you.

1 Look

1. Check that the panel is smooth and flat, without defects. From the side, check whether the core thickness is uniform and whether there is any overlap or separation from the core.

2. Consider the price. Don't be greedy for cheap prices when buying. It is recommended to choose products from well-known brands that have been recognized by national authorities.

2 listens

Stand the plywood upright on the ground and tap different parts with your hand or other blunt object. If the sound is relatively uniform, it indicates that the quality is acceptable. If the sound varies greatly, it indicates that there is a certain quality problem, and it is possible that the inside is hollow.

3 touches

When you touch the surface of the plywood, a high-quality plywood should feel dry, flat and smooth, and without any wavy texture when touched horizontally, indicating low moisture content and good flatness.

4 .

Take a sniff. If the plywood emits a natural wood fragrance, it indicates a low formaldehyde content. If the odor is pungent, it indicates a high formaldehyde content.

5 saws

If possible, cut the board open to inspect its interior. Check if the board strips are dense, and whether there are any obvious gaps or rotten or deteriorated wood strips. Rotten wood strips may contain insect eggs, which can easily lead to insect infestation in the future.

6 checks

Check the product's various markings, such as whether it is produced by a legitimate manufacturer, its trademark, certificate of conformity, production address, after-sales service phone number, anti-counterfeiting mark, environmental label, formaldehyde release time, and bonding strength value.

Of course, you don't have to go through all that trouble. We recommend environmentally friendly plywood!

Our environmentally friendly plywood is made from high-quality Southern fir, poplar, and paulownia wood, with Okoume veneer on both the top and bottom panels. It undergoes an advanced production process involving two sanding and two molding stages, resulting in products with excellent flatness, minimal color difference, lightweight, and resistance to deformation. Our plywood has received green product certification, so you can purchase it with confidence.
