As winter approaches, outdoor temperatures plummet, and indoor air becomes increasingly dry. In these conditions, solid wood floors are highly susceptible to warping and cracking if not properly maintained. To ensure the durability and beauty of your floors, a carefully designed winter care guide is essential.
Part 01
Maintain indoor humidity
In winter, due to lower air humidity, solid wood floors are prone to natural shrinkage due to moisture loss, which can lead to cracking. To maintain room humidity, it is recommended that homeowners wipe the floor with a damp cloth two to three times a week, or use a small humidifier to increase indoor humidity.
Effective floor maintenance requires that quality and workmanship meet standards. The new five-layer engineered wood flooring is specially designed with a double-layer eucalyptus balance layer and adopts a symmetrical interlocking mechanical structure to effectively control the internal stress of the wood and reduce the risk of floor deformation and cracking.
Part 02
Avoid direct sunlight
Winter sunshine is warm and bright, and people often open their curtains to enjoy it at home. However, prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause wooden floors to fade, age, and even shrink and separate due to moisture loss. Therefore, when a home is unoccupied for an extended period, we need to avoid direct sunlight on wooden floors by installing blackout curtains or laying down soft furnishings such as carpets to protect the floor.
Each floorboard undergoes an extended 180-day curing process to release residual internal stress and precisely control moisture content, enhancing stability. Even when exposed to direct sunlight, it is less prone to warping or buckling.
Part 03
Beware of sudden temperature changes
In winter, when temperatures are low, residents often turn on their heating systems. To prevent damage to the flooring from sudden temperature changes, it's important to gradually increase the temperature before turning on the underfloor heating for the first time, allowing the wood flooring a proper temperature adjustment period. Ideally, the indoor temperature should be maintained between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius. Turning the heating on and off should be done gradually, as sudden increases or decreases in temperature can affect the lifespan of the wood flooring.
Solid wood flooring with underfloor heating uses constant temperature modification technology, which preserves the natural activity of the flooring through stepped temperature rise and fall, ensuring that the flooring can maintain excellent stability and durability in an underfloor heating environment for a long time.
Solid wood floors require careful maintenance
Only then can one retain their charm over the years.
