My friend is renovating his house and asked me whether it is better to install a shower room or a bathtub. He thinks that in order to achieve dry and wet separation in the toilet, it is better to install a shower room. I have been using a bathtub and realized that the era when bathtubs dominated the world has passed. More and more families like to install shower rooms. But I still think that if the area allows, the bathtub should be given priority. Listen to my reasons.
Reasonable space utilization
The birth of the shower room itself is to save space, so the shower room is obviously better than the bathtub in terms of space utilization.
First of all, the shower room can achieve dry and wet separation in the bathroom without affecting each other. The shower room is fully waterproof. When the glass door is closed, there is no need to worry about the bath water splashing out, and there is no need for auxiliary supplies such as shower curtains. The dry and wet separation effect can be achieved with the most streamlined space. If you want to achieve dry and wet separation in the bathroom with a bathtub, it feels like two bathrooms are needed.
Secondly, because the shower room is square in shape, you can make full use of the bathroom wall and glass to separate the bathing space, which not only realizes the full utilization of space, but also reduces space waste by borrowing the original wall. Since the shape of the bathtub is generally irregular, it is inevitable that a lot of space will be wasted in the front, back, left and right.
Durability & Cost-effectiveness
Thanks to the material and structure of the bathtub, the durability and cost-effectiveness of the bathtub are better than the shower room.
First of all, in terms of durability, since the material of the bathtub is usually acrylic, cast iron or composite material, these materials plus the structure of the bathtub determine the long-term stability of the bathtub. Especially the cast iron bathtub, there are countless antique cast iron bathtubs abroad, and its long-term stability is self-evident, right? But the shower room is not so indestructible. Although the shower room generally uses relatively strong glass and is tempered, there are many examples of shower room explosion damage due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside during bathing and the large area of the shower room glass.
Secondly, in terms of cost-effectiveness, from a short-term perspective, the shower room is indeed better than the bathtub in terms of one-time investment, but if the cycle is slightly longer, considering the long-term maintenance, repair investment and possible damage caused by the instability of the shower room glass, and the "stable happiness" of the bathtub experience, in the long run, the bathtub is naturally better.
Comfort & Freedom
In terms of comfort and freedom of use, I personally feel that the experience of a bathtub is significantly better than that of a shower room.
First of all, when taking a bath in a bathtub, you can choose to "sit" or even "lie" to enjoy the comfort of a bath. If you want to stubbornly choose the "standing" style like the shower room, it is not impossible. In a shower room, the bathing posture is almost always "standing". Even if you take a small stool to sit in the shower room, you will not feel as relaxed as sitting in a bathtub.
Secondly, when taking a bath in a shower room, there is always a sense of space cramped. The hand movements during bathing will always "conflict" with the glass of the shower room, and the air circulation in the shower room is not so smooth. Bathing in a bathtub is different. Regardless of the "disadvantage" of the large area occupied by the bathtub, it has become the freedom and comfort of bathing; even if the area occupied by the bathtub is the same as that of the shower room, because the bathtub is not blocked by the "glass wall", our hands can share the space outside the bathtub, realizing the freedom of hand movements during bathing, and the air circulation is also sufficient, avoiding the feeling of crampedness and suffocation in the shower room.
