Plywood as a man-made wood
Due to its excellent performance and practicality
It has been widely used in the field of house construction
And high-quality plywood
There are certain requirements for structure and number of layers
01. Two major principles of plywood
During the processing and production of boards, in order to improve the anisotropy of natural wood as much as possible and make the plywood uniform in wood properties and stable in shape, in terms of structure, plywood needs to follow two principles: one is symmetry, and the other is that the fibers of adjacent layers of veneer are perpendicular to each other.
The principle of symmetry requires that the veneers on either side of the plywood's center plane be symmetrical in terms of wood properties, veneer thickness, number of plies, fiber orientation, moisture content, and more. Within the same sheet of plywood, veneers of the same or different species and thicknesses can be used, but symmetrical veneers must be of the same species and thickness.
Natural wood is prone to cracking along its grain, but plywood, with its interlaced, perpendicular layers, eliminates the risk of cracking when nailed or screwed. Thanks to plywood's balanced structure, the forces acting on adjacent sheets offset each other, minimizing warping caused by anisotropy and swelling and shrinkage.
02. Is it true that the more layers of plywood, the better?
Plywood is usually made into
Odd-numbered floors such as 3, 5, and 7 floors
So here comes the question
When the thickness is fixed
Are more layers of plywood better?
The more layers of plywood there are, the better the improvement in the anisotropy of the wood will be. However, more layers also means more glue is used, and more environmentally friendly glue is needed to meet the requirements.
Fuqing LVL collaborated with one research institute and three universities, and after 65 factory tests and 18 technical improvements, developed a resin adhesive with formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.025mg/m³, promoting product upgrades with green and environmental protection.
In addition, the more layers there are, the thinner the veneer will be, which places higher demands on the wood species and production process. Therefore, the quality and price of plywood with more layers will be correspondingly higher.
Fuqing LVL prioritizes quality as its lifeline. We carefully select natural raw materials, employ intelligent production methods, and employ dedicated personnel to ensure comprehensive quality control throughout the entire process. Fuqing LVL's plywood, renowned for its high quality and competitive price-performance ratio, has earned the trust of customers both domestically and internationally, achieving top sales in its category in Japan.
