During the second renovation process, the design of the bedroom strictly followed these five principles. After moving in, I deeply realized the wisdom of my original choice.

The bedroom is a space full of dreams. It not only frees the mind but also relaxes the body and releases the accumulated pressure.

For busy workers, the bedroom is often the place where we stay the longest at home; in contrast, although the living room and dining room bear the responsibility of showing the family image, the practicality and comfort of the bedroom should be given more attention when decorating and designing.

Many people who renovate for the first time often invest a lot of energy and financial resources in the exterior design. My family was no exception when it was renovated for the first time. However, soon after moving into the new house, I found that the bedroom was beautiful but not suitable for living. I could only regret that my funds were not used in the most needed places.

During the second house renovation, the bedroom design strictly followed these five principles. After moving in, I deeply realized how wise my decision was. Compared with the previous bedroom, the current bedroom is not only more comfortable, but also significantly more practical.

Principle 1: Lighting design and lamp selection are very important

In the bedroom of my first home, the main lamp was used for lighting during the decoration, and popular online celebrity lamps were selected. These lamps are indeed attractive in appearance, but their practicality is slightly insufficient.

The main lamp arrangement in the center of the bed seems a little depressing, and the light is not bright enough. Once you lie down, the light will directly come into your eyes, which is particularly dazzling. In general, this lamp has no other advantages except its attractive appearance.

Therefore, in the second renovation, the master bedroom adopts a layout without a main lamp; a wall lamp is added at the head of the bed, and a downlight is installed above the end of the bed. The selected lamps are mainly light designs. At night, you only need to turn on the light at the end of the bed to play with your mobile phone conveniently.

Although the decoration style without main lights is currently very popular, we still need to plan carefully during the house decoration process. The design without main lights is not as simple as giving up the traditional main lights. It involves many aspects such as the choice of lighting methods, the regulation of light brightness, and the creation of a sense of hierarchy.

Although the children's room still uses the main light design, it chooses a lightweight ceiling lamp. Although such lamps are not as delicate and beautiful as the Internet celebrity lamps, they avoid a strong sense of oppression. More importantly, there is no need to worry about the safety hazards caused by the falling of lamps.

Principle 2: Be sure to design a convenient storage area

Most bedroom lockers are usually limited to a set of wardrobes beside the bed to store clothes for all seasons; however, if the bedroom only has this set of cabinets, it is not very convenient for daily use.

There is no obstacle to taking the change of clothes from the wardrobe, but winter thick coats, sweaters, and other clothes are usually not changed and washed every day. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to set up a "secondary clean clothes area" in the bedroom that is easy to store at any time.

In addition to the secondary clean clothing area, you may wish to add several special small storage spaces according to your daily habits, such as a dedicated area for underwear and socks, and a storage area for paper towels and other supplies. These areas can be stored in chests of drawers.

In addition, the bedside table should have basic storage capacity to facilitate the placement of daily necessities such as books, cups, glasses and chargers.

Principle 3: Wood floors are warmer than floor tiles

Before decoration, many people will hesitate about the choice of floor materials, whether it is more appropriate to lay floor tiles or wood floors. In fact, for the living room and dining room, laying floor tiles is a good choice because it is easy to clean and appears more spacious; however, for the bedroom, laying wood floors is more recommended.

First of all, compared with tiles, wooden materials are more warm in creating a bedroom atmosphere, which is more in line with the characteristics of the bedroom as a private space for the family; after all, the bedroom does not need to pursue high-end and atmosphere excessively, and comfort is the key.

Although the texture of many wood-grain tiles is comparable to that of wooden floors, the feeling of walking on them is different, and the touch provided by wooden floors is softer.

Principle 4: The air conditioner must not blow towards the head of the bed

During the renovation of the house where my family used to live, the air conditioner in the bedroom was placed on the dressing table at the end of the bed. However, due to the relatively small space in the bedroom, whenever the air conditioner was turned on, its air outlet was directly facing the head of the bed.

During the day, it is still tolerable to turn on the air conditioner in the bedroom, but when night falls, it feels uncomfortable after falling asleep. The wind blown by the air conditioner is relatively dry and faces the human body, causing people to appear listless, dry mouth and nose, and be susceptible to cold when waking up in the morning. Fortunately, the air conditioner in the children's room is installed at the head of the bed, and the wind direction is towards the end of the bed; otherwise, the child may be more uncomfortable.

Therefore, during the renovation of my house, we paid special attention to the placement of the outdoor unit and the orientation of the air outlet of the air conditioner to ensure that they would not blow directly towards the head of the bed, let alone people.

Principle 5: Mattresses are more worthwhile than beds

During my first renovation, I was determined to buy a beautiful and generous bed with a spacious headrest, which not only reflects the light luxury style but also has a delicate design, which can perfectly blend with the overall effect of the bedroom; however, when choosing a mattress, I hastily chose a reasonably priced one without considering my lumbar spine problem, which caused me to feel back pain every day when I woke up, and the mattress also emitted an unpleasant odor.

Although the bed purchased at a huge cost looks attractive, it is not comfortable to use. This is not a problem with the bed itself, but the problem is that I did not choose a good mattress that suits me. I paid too much attention to the surface of the bed. In fact, the selection of the mattress is more critical than the bed itself, and it is worth investing more money and time.

During the second house renovation, although I still carefully selected the style when purchasing the bed, I invested more time in choosing a good mattress.
