Red oak is often favored by designers and architects for its aesthetic appeal and versatility, often used in furniture design and construction. It's also popular in flooring, joinery, and export markets. While some red oaks have distinct pink or reddish characteristics, others can look very similar to white oak. This resemblance is particularly pronounced when red oak is treated, creating a product known as "hybrid oak."

The large production volume of red oak ensures its wide application. Coast Furui not only provides red oak lumber but also red oak logs to meet the different needs of customers.

General Description

Red oak has sapwood that is white to light brown, and heartwood that is often pink. Red oak looks similar to white oak, but the color difference is less pronounced due to the subtle ray grain and more porous end-grain structure. The wood is mostly straight-grained with a coarse texture.

Processing properties

Red oak is well suited to machining; nails and screws can be used, though pre-drilled holes are preferred. It also stains and polishes very well. It works best when dried slowly to reduce the chance of cracking and warping. However, it has a high degree of shrinkage and is susceptible to varying humidity levels.

Durability

It is slightly intolerant to heartwood corrosion and is relatively easy to treat with preservatives.

use

Construction, furniture, flooring, building interiors, internal joinery, staircases and mouldings, doors, kitchen cabinetry, panelling and coffins.
