Blockboard, commonly known as core board, wood core board, or woodworking board, is made from two veneer sheets glued together. It boasts advantages such as light weight, pre-processed finish, good nail holding power, and resistance to deformation, making it an ideal material for interior decoration and high-end furniture. Specifications include: 2440mm × 1220mm × 12mm-18mm.
12mm, 15mm: thin plates, generally used as the back panels of cabinets, and the usage is relatively small;
16.5mm and 17mm: Mainly used as the panels and side panels of beds, cabinets, bookcases, computer tables, and desks in furniture. They are relatively widely used and have the largest consumption.
17.5mm, 18mm: thicker, generally used to make wooden doors, etc.
The substrates we commonly use are:
fir, poplar, Malacca, paulownia, camphor, pine
Chinese fir: The sapwood is light yellowish brown, the heartwood is reddish brown to dark reddish brown, with a distinct Chinese fir smell, straight and even texture, medium or coarse structure, easy to dry, strong toughness, no warping or cracking, strong durability, easy to process, and the cut surface is easy to fuzz.
Poplar: yellowish brown, with unclear distinction between heartwood and sapwood, light, soft and elastic, poorly dried, easy to process, and smooth cutting surface.
Malacca: The sapwood is light yellow-brown, the heartwood is reddish-brown to dark red, the structure is medium to fine, it is easy to cut, the density is moderate, the wood is light, the deformation is small, and the nail holding strength is moderate.
Paulownia: Light dark brown in color, uniform in color, light and soft in texture. Low in strength, easy to process, small in deformation, but poor in nail holding power.
Camphor: The heartwood and sapwood are distinct, ranging from yellowish brown to grayish brown. The heartwood is reddish brown, often with red or dark streaks. It has a camphor aroma. The wood is moderately light and hard, with oblique or interlaced grain, smooth and beautiful, fine structure, easy to glue and paint, easy to process, smooth cut surface, corrosion resistance, and insect resistance.
Pine: The cut surface has a resinous smell, straight and uneven texture, slightly coarse structure, hard and tough. High strength, easy to machine, easy to crack with nails, resistant to corrosion, and dries quickly.
How to purchase:
1. Surface quality: flat appearance, smooth surface, no warping, deformation, blistering, dents, degumming, indentation, etc.
First look: board texture, color difference, etc.
Second touch: surface flatness and smoothness;
Three: craftsmanship, material, and environmental protection level;
Four listening: shake or knock the board;
2. Core board process:
Whether the width and thickness are equal, and whether the thickness is within the specified deviation;
Whether the arrangement is even and neat;
Are the gaps too large or too many?
Whether the splicing is firm;
Whether there are signs of decay, breakage, insect infestation, etc.
Whether there are burrs;
