Eco-board can be divided into two concepts: narrow and broad.
In a broad sense, ecological board is equivalent to melamine veneer board. Its full name is melamine impregnated film paper veneer artificial board. It is a decorative board made by soaking paper with different colors or textures in ecological board resin adhesive, then drying it to a certain degree of solidification, and laying it on the surface of particleboard, moisture-proof board, medium-density fiberboard, plywood, blockboard or other hard fiberboard, and then hot pressing it.
In a narrow sense, eco-board refers only to melamine-faced panels whose base material is multi-layer solid wood (plywood) or blockboard (such as Malacca, fir, paulownia, poplar, etc.). It is mainly used in furniture, cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom cabinets and other fields.
Plywood is a three-layer or multi-layer board material made by peeling wood segments into veneers or planing wood blocks into thin wood, and then gluing them together with adhesive. It is usually made with an odd number of veneers, and the fibers of adjacent layers of veneers are glued perpendicular to each other.
The difference between ecological board and plywood
In a narrow sense, ecological board only refers to the base material used in the middle is multi-layer solid wood (plywood). Here many people will not understand the difference between the multi-layer solid wood board and plywood of ecological board.
In reality, the two are both related and different. First, the structure of multi-layer solid wood boards is the same as that of plywood. The core layer is plywood specifically made for board production (of very high quality), but the front and back surfaces are painted from wood species (the surface is generally from more valuable species). Second, the requirements for processing precision, appearance quality, and surface treatment of multi-layer solid wood boards are much stricter than those for plywood. Generally speaking, the manufacturing cost per square meter of plywood is 10%-20% of that of multi-layer solid wood flooring.
Which is better, ecological board or plywood?
Plywood improves wood utilization and is a major way to conserve wood. It is also used in aircraft, ships, trains, automobiles, buildings, and packaging. Eco-board, as a new product, combines the functions of veneer and plywood (or blockboard). This streamlines production processes while increasing product value, saving consumers renovation costs and labor. It is leading a new trend in home decoration. Currently, mainstream panel furniture on the market is essentially made of melamine veneer.
What is more important is that the environmental protection level of the ecological board must reach E0 or E1 to be called an ecological board. Not all boards can be called ecological boards.
