Multi-layer solid wood board
Process: Made by hot-pressing three or more layers of 1mm-thick veneer or sheet material together. It's currently the most commonly used material for handmade furniture. Plywood is generally available in six sizes: 3mm (commonly known as three-ply board), 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 18mm (1mm is 1mm).
Features: High structural strength, comfortable feel, easy maintenance, good waterproof performance, easy installation, and good stability. The more layers there are, the greater the glue content. During construction, good edge sealing should be done to reduce pollution.
Uses: Commonly used in various wooden products such as panel wardrobes, background walls, suspended ceilings, etc., used as the base of decorative panels, and also suitable for homes with floor heating.
How to choose: You can choose those with clear texture, tight splicing, and a base thickness of 0.3-2.0mm; you also need to pay attention to its formaldehyde emission and strength; you should choose boards with clear wood grain, glossy and smooth texture.

Process: Wood or other lignocellulosic materials are crushed into granules, then glued together under heat and pressure after applying adhesive;
Features: good sound absorption, sound insulation and heat insulation capabilities, strong decorative performance, not easy to deform, strong nail holding force, good processing performance, high glue content, easy to release formaldehyde, general environmental performance;
Application: Customized furniture, easy to press into various shapes, the domestic high-end panel furniture market has also begun to adopt this type of board on a large scale;
How to choose: the surface should be flat, without hollows or degumming; smell it and there should be no peculiar smell; check the certificate to see if the formaldehyde content is within the national standard.
Overall, friends in the south are advised to choose multi-layer solid wood boards, which are environmentally friendly, stable and not afraid of moisture; friends in the north can choose particle boards, which are more stable and durable.
Look at the edge banding
Edge banding can affect the service life of the board
Edge banding is a crucial step for custom panels. The quality of edge banding not only directly affects the lifespan and environmental performance of the cabinet, but also affects the overall texture and aesthetics of the cabinet.
There are usually two types of edge banding methods for panel furniture, hot melt edge banding and laser edge banding, and laser edge banding is the most environmentally friendly method.
When purchasing, carefully observe the quality of the edge banding to determine its quality. Good edge banding generally features: a straight and smooth surface, bright and pure finish, clear grain, a good texture, a rich coating with a three-dimensional feel, no scratches, and well-defined grooves and corners. If a board with a white edge has black lines along the edge, it indicates it was produced by a hot-melt edge banding machine. The thicker the black lines, the worse the edge banding.
When purchasing, you should not choose products produced by small workshops. It is necessary to choose brands with large-scale, mechanized and automated production.
