Board products on the market are generally categorized as particle board, multi-layer board, and eco-friendly board. Particle board is made from wood or wooden poles, broken down into logs, with fine wood fibers on both sides and long wood fibers in the middle. Adhesive is then applied and bonded together under heat and pressure to create a man-made board. Multi-layer board is made by gluing three or more layers of single or thin wood sheets together and hot-pressing them. Eco-friendly board is a decorative board made by soaking colored or textured paper in an eco-friendly resin adhesive, drying it to a certain degree of solidification, and then applying it to the surface of particleboard, moisture-proof board, medium-density fiberboard, plywood, blockboard, or other hardboard, and then hot-pressing it.
If they are boards of the same level, the comprehensive score of ecological board is higher than that of multi-layer board and particle board, but their prices will also vary according to different categories.

Due to its production method, particle board uses the most glue of the three types of board materials, typically accounting for 10% by weight. As we know, glue also releases formaldehyde, so the quality and amount of glue used affect the board's environmental friendliness. Generally speaking, the quality of particle board varies depending on the quality of the glue, with a relatively large lower limit. Therefore, when purchasing particle board, be sure to buy from well-known, established brands, as the glue quality is more guaranteed. Multilayer board, also known as plywood, might sound like it uses a lot of glue, but the glue content is actually around 3%.
Does this mean that boards with lower glue content are more environmentally friendly? This isn't entirely accurate. All we can say is that, when using the same glue, the glue content of the board is positively correlated with its environmental friendliness. However, the environmental friendliness of different glues varies greatly, and there are many substandard glues on the market. Even a small amount can release significant amounts of formaldehyde. Douyin boards, on the other hand, use soybean-based soy glue, which is formaldehyde-free, so even large amounts are safe. Glue quality cannot be generalized, so when comparing glue content, we should choose products of the same quality.
