2025-10-19

Plywood, commonly known as plywood, is a three-layer or multi-layer (usually an odd number of layers) board material made by cutting logs and peeling or slicing them along the annual rings into large thin sheets (veneer). It is then dried, spliced, glued, hot-pressed, and glued together according to the principle of symmetry.

Plywood specifications

The main format dimensions are (width × length): conventionally 1220mm × 2440mm;

According to customer needs, we can also produce the following sizes: 915mm×1830mm, 915mm×2135mm, 1220mm×1830mm, 220mm×2440mm

The main thickness specifications are: 2.7mm, 3.0mm, 4mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, etc. (increases by 1mm after 8mm).

Generally, 3-layer plywood is 2.7-4mm;

5-layer: 5-12mm;

7-9 layers of plywood are 9-18mm;

11 layers of plywood are 12-30mm etc.

Plywood Application

2.7/3.0mm: In decoration, it is mainly pasted on the blockboard for mixing paint and other processes. It requires the board surface to be flat and the bonding strength to be good.

5.0/9.0mm: can be used as the bottom or back panel of furniture. 9mm can also be used as the base board of door frames, window frames, as well as skirtings and some shapes.

12/15/18mm: can be directly used to make furniture, etc.

Four-step shopping rule

First look: check for defects on the board, the quality of the exterior, and the quality of the interior;

Second touch: feel the flatness and smoothness of the board surface, and whether there are any unevenness;

Smell: Check if there is any pungent or harsh smell to intuitively feel whether it is environmentally friendly;

Fourth, listen: tap different positions to see if the sound is uneven.

There are many things to pay attention to when purchasing decoration materials, and plywood is no exception. Each material has its own different judgment standards. As long as you understand the standards, purchasing is not difficult.
