1. The quality of the board is not up to standard

The quality of OSB boards varies greatly. If you choose OSB boards of poor quality, deformation problems are likely to occur.

The European pine boards produced by some small manufacturers may use wood with too high a moisture content, or the temperature and pressure may not be properly controlled during the hot pressing process, resulting in unstable internal structure of the boards.

Under normal circumstances, the moisture content of OSB board should be controlled between 6% and 14%. Once it exceeds this range, as the ambient humidity changes, the board will expand or contract due to the fluctuation of moisture content, resulting in deformation.

2. Irregular installation and construction

If expansion space is not reserved during installation, when the OSB board expands due to changes in temperature or humidity, it will have nowhere to stretch, thus generating internal stress and causing the board to deform.

For example, when installing OSB boards for wall decoration, a gap of 3-5 mm should be reserved between the boards to accommodate their expansion and contraction.

3. Influence of environmental factors

When the ambient humidity is too high or too low for a long time, OSB will absorb or release moisture, causing dimensional changes.

For example, during the rainy season in the south, the air humidity is often as high as over 80%. In such a high humidity environment, if the European particle board is not properly protected from moisture, it will easily become damp and deform.

In an environment with large temperature changes, the thermal expansion and contraction of European particle board will be more obvious.

For example, when the temperature alternates between high temperatures in summer and low temperatures in winter, OSB boards frequently expand and contract, which can cause deformation over time.

4. Unreasonable use and maintenance

Placing heavy objects on OSB boards that exceed the board's load-bearing capacity will cause the board to bend and deform.
