In our daily lives, we're no doubt familiar with plywood, also known as multi-layered wood. How is it multi-layered? Why is it made this way? What are its uses?
Today, Qiangyi and everyone will unveil the mystery of plywood layer by layer from its internal structure.
Plywood structure
Plywood, in simple terms, is made by arranging multiple layers of veneer in a certain grain direction, then bonding them with adhesive and hot pressing them to form a base plate, and finally covering the base plate with suitable facing paper.
veneer
Veneer is the primary component of plywood, typically made from peeled or sliced logs, with a thickness typically ranging from 0.5 to 3 mm. High-quality veneer is typically between 1.6 and 1.8 mm thick, and Qiangyijia's veneer falls within this range.
The grain directions of two adjacent layers of veneer are perpendicular to each other. This structural design greatly enhances the strength and stability of the plywood.
adhesive
Adhesives are key to holding veneers together. Commonly used adhesives in plywood production include urea-formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin, and melamine-formaldehyde resin. In recent years, new environmentally friendly adhesives have emerged, such as the Lingmei glutinous rice glue used by the Qiang family.
facing paper
Veneer paper is the face of plywood. It's typically made from base paper, impregnated and dried, before being applied to the outermost layer of plywood. It comes in a wide variety of colors and textures, including wood grain, stone grain, and solid colors, to meet the diverse decorating needs of consumers.
Qiangyijia has more than 100 kinds of decorative paper patterns, which can meet the decoration needs of various different styles.
The role of plywood
Multilayer boards are commonly constructed with an odd number of layers, such as three, five, seven, or nine. The reason for using an odd number of layers is that it allows for a more even distribution of stress in all directions, avoiding internal stress imbalances caused by symmetrical layers, and thus preventing warping during use.
The origin of multilayer boards
The origins of multi-layer boards can be traced back to ancient times. Initially, to fully utilize wood resources and reduce wood waste, people processed wood into veneers and then glued them together. They discovered that this significantly improved the performance of the boards produced, leading to the gradual development of multi-layer boards. With the continuous advancement of technology, the production process of multi-layer boards has become increasingly mature, and their application has become increasingly widespread.
Advantages of multilayer boards
Multilayer boards offer numerous advantages. First, they are strong. The interlaced structure of the layers of veneer allows them to withstand significant pressure and tension without breaking. Second, multilayer boards are stable, exhibiting minimal dimensional changes in varying temperatures and humidity, unlike some solid wood boards, which are susceptible to deformation. Furthermore, multilayer boards are highly processable, easily amenable to sawing, planing, drilling, and other processing operations, meeting diverse renovation and furniture production needs.
Strong glutinous rice board
Qiangyi glutinous rice board is also a multi-layer board. It is made of 9 layers of single boards arranged crosswise, using Lingmei glutinous rice glue, and is made through 24 hours of self-cold pressing and heating molding.
Glutinous rice board is far superior to ordinary multi-layer board in terms of environmental protection, stability and many other performances. Combined with Qiangyijia's rich decorative paper, it can be perfectly used for making wardrobes, cabinets, or interior decoration, and it is more durable and long-lasting.
With 21 years of experience in the panel industry, Qiangyi has mastered the production and development of multi-layer panels to perfection. Qiangyi always adheres to the principles of environmental protection and quality first, and is committed to providing the highest quality products to create a healthy, comfortable, and warm home for every consumer!
