In traditional wood-based panel manufacturing, phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants are often added to impart flame retardancy. However, these flame retardants are often acidic and highly hygroscopic. Long-term use with metal materials like screws, hardware, and lightweight steel keels can corrode them, damaging their surface morphology and mechanical properties, posing a potential threat to home furnishing safety.
Flame-retardant panels utilize a unique treatment method. The veneer is first impregnated with a flame retardant consisting of phosphonoglycolic acid, sodium polyaspartate, and thiourea. It is then treated with an antioxidant consisting of at least one of ferric gluconate, ferrous acetate, and ferric sulfate. Finally, it is treated with an anti-corrosion absorbent consisting of DOPO-modified polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxide. This innovative treatment not only effectively improves the flame retardancy of the veneer, but also provides it with excellent resistance to metal corrosion.
