Production and installation problems caused by common design defects in the customization of whole wood panels!

In a previous article, Mr. Yuan Qiaocheng provided an overview of the general process and optimization methods for custom-made solid wood design and manufacturing. He also proposed the concept of "design leadership," arguing that design elements are more than just simple design functions; they also play a role as organizers of home decoration elements in the industry's development.

In this article, Mr. Yuan uses several specific cases to illustrate the relationship between design and production in the customization of whole wood panels. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.

Hello, dear readers, today we will discuss the importance of the connection between design and manufacturing production from several points.

The customization of whole wood panels is dominated by design. However, due to the uneven skills of designers from different companies and the lack of on-site experience, after the drawings are broken down and the orders are placed, there are problems such as production and processing difficulties, incorrect structures, lack of product stability and performance, labor-intensive and time-consuming production, uncertain production cycles, inability to install on-site, customer complaints, etc.

The relationship between whole wood custom design and manufacturing production can be explained by the following questions.

Case 1:

▲The wine glass cannot fit into the gap of the base

Case 2:

The designer did not consider everything carefully when designing the nine-square grid. Only six squares can be used in the nine-square grid. In this case, the designer should have considered that the slide uses two sections instead of necessarily three. The production carpentry pre-assembly did not notice this, and the situation was the same when it arrived at the customer's home.

▲Nine-grid layout can only use six-grid layout

Case 3:

▲Design drawings of a cloakroom

First of all, the top and side panels of this cabinet are not divided into upper and lower cabinets. The production is based on the drawings. The market panels are not long enough, so they need to be joined together, which increases the processing volume and has a poor appearance quality.

Secondly, the i3 cabinet is not clearly depicted. The front view should show the entire cabinet in its entirety, and the corner cabinets should be shown in separate drawings.

Finally, the internal structure diagram does not include the top plate, and it is very easy to miss a dimension if it is missing. Production is based on the dimensions and quantity after the order is split.

Case 4:

▲Design drawing of an outdoor shoe cabinet

When the designer made these two drawings, he should have divided the cabinets into upper and lower cabinets, but he didn't.

There are also many minor problems caused by carelessness, such as the size difference between the top view and the front view, or the situation where a cloakroom cabinet has one high point and another low point. When the production staff found that the size was different, they called the designer and the designer said that the height should be the same.

▲The size of the top view and the front view are different

▲There are high and low parts in the cabinet

Case 5:

Today we briefly discuss these issues, and in the next issue we will delve deeper into this topic. We will address each of the product issues in solid wood design, hoping to help you.

At the same time, everyone is welcome to leave a message at the end of the article to ask questions and discuss related issues.
