2. Look at the cross section of the board
The easiest way to tell whether a wardrobe is made of high-density fiberboard (HDF) or particleboard is to examine the cross-section of the board. This means the fine fibers in HDF are tightly packed together, resulting in a higher density and heavier weight. HDF can withstand significant pressure and has a longer lifespan. Particleboard, on the other hand, has a looser structure of fine particles, making it lighter, less able to bear weight, and shorter in lifespan.
3. Also see whether the board base material meets environmental protection standards
The free formaldehyde content in the wood panel should be ≤0.5 mg/L, which means it is classified as European E0 environmental grade, which is harmless to human health. To check, open all cabinet doors and drawers and observe if there is a strong odor. If there is a strong odor, the formaldehyde content is very high. You can also check the material testing certificate of the manufacturer to see if it has been certified by the National Manufactured Goods Quality Testing Center.
