Experience of an old carpenter: Choose the boards in this way and you will never have to worry about your furniture deforming!

2025-10-11

In the old days, people hired carpenters for renovations, but now they hire custom builders. But no matter which one you choose, the reliability of the materials, the environmental friendliness of the finished product, and the safety of its use are all concerns that cannot be ignored.

In addition, survey data shows that 20% of consumers are troubled by furniture deformation in real life: inability to close properly, increased switching noise, veneer debonding and bulging, and edge sealing curling and cracking, which seriously affects the appearance of furniture and causes the overall appearance of the home environment to plummet.

Good furniture is made of good boards! Today, Xiaozhou will share with you the experience of master carpenters in selecting boards, hoping to serve as some reference for everyone.

Which one is the strongest in terms of board stability?

There are many types of board materials available. Commonly used decorative boards in the domestic market include finger-jointed boards, multi-layer boards, blockboard, density boards, and particleboard. How do these products perform in terms of stability? Let's take a look!

Finger-jointed boards are made up of multiple wooden boards, and are named because the jagged joints between the vertical wooden boards resemble the cross-jointing of fingers.

▲Advantages: No need to glue or press the plywood, less glue is used, and more environmentally friendly.

▲Disadvantages: Average durability, prone to deformation and cracking.

Multilayer board, also known as plywood, is made of three or more layers of veneer or thin board glued together and hot pressed.

▲Advantages: Good stability performance.

▲Disadvantages: The plasticity is average, and the carving process is prone to burrs.

Blockboard is made of wooden strips as the core board, covered with two or more layers of plywood on both sides and then glued together.

▲Advantages: The interior is made of solid wood splicing, with small amount of glue, good screw holding force and high strength.

▲Disadvantages: The surface is rough and needs to be processed again before use.

Density board, also known as fiberboard, is made of wood fiber or other plant fiber as raw materials and glued.

▲Advantages: Not easy to debond, strong plasticity, can be made into various shapes.

▲Disadvantages: high glue content, poor moisture resistance, not suitable for cabinet making.

Strongly recommend - OSB board

Everyone knows particleboard, but when it comes to OSB, many people probably have a big question mark over their heads! OSB, also known as oriented strand board, is an upgraded version of particleboard and has been popular in Europe and the United States for decades. It is not only commonly used to create interior furniture, but can even be used directly in building houses. In my country's current push for prefabricated construction, OSB is one of the main materials used in prefabricated wood structures. This shows how strong its stability is!

The group invested nearly 500 million yuan to build a smart factory, introduced the industry's first complete production line of German Siempelkamp OSB boards, and comprehensively deployed OSB board products. It has currently launched products such as solid wood slice OSB boards, solid wood slice OSB ecological boards and flame retardant OSB boards.
