E2 cancels E0, but not E2! After May 1st, when buying boards, the new national standard will only have one level, which is E1.

As times progress, technology advances, and people's well-being improves, people are increasingly prioritizing health, which is the primary criterion for quality of life. Currently, formaldehyde in the home is a major concern for many. To address this, the government has established standards for formaldehyde content in wood products. We have also made efforts to address this, solely for the well-being and health of everyone!

Meet the Big Bad Guy - Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is a colorless gas with a strong pungent odor. It is easily soluble in water, alcohol and ether. Its volatilization time can last for 3-15 years.

It is an important organic raw material, primarily used in the synthesis of adhesives, such as phenolic resins, urea-formaldehyde resins, synthetic fibers, leather, pharmaceuticals, and dyes. It is ubiquitous in most home improvement materials.

E0 grade plate-Explanation

There are many different opinions in the market about the concept of E0 grade boards. Merchants often use this as a gimmick, but some people say that there is actually no national or international standard for E0 grade.

Chinese National Standards

According to the latest news released by the Standardization Administration of China regarding the E0, E1, and E2 environmental protection levels (the following content comes from the website: http://www.sac.gov.cn)--

3. GB/T 34722-2017 "Impregnated Film Paper Faced Plywood and Blockboard" standard mentions:

4. GB/T18102-2007 "Impregnated Paper Laminated Wood Flooring" standard mentions:

(Note: The statement that "the test specimens were sealed on all sides and back with formaldehyde-free aluminum tape" completely disregards the possibility of sheet material breakage or cutting during construction. This type of testing can only yield ideal laboratory data.)

In other words, when buying panels after May 1, 2018, the new national standard has only one level, which is E1. Don't be fooled again!

Compared with E1, E0 is used by too many businesses to promote it, but it is unknown where the standard is implemented. In this case, it is better to choose environmentally friendly materials in accordance with the new national standard E1, which is regulated at least in China.

Safety of E1 grade panels

1. Safety of E1 grade board itself

As mentioned above, E1-grade boards refer to boards with a formaldehyde content of less than or equal to 0.124 mg per cubic meter (E0≤0.124 mg/m3). It does not mean that they do not contain formaldehyde, but because the formaldehyde release is extremely small, it has reached a safe numerical standard.

2. Safety of E1 grade board decoration

E1-grade panels meet national standards, but this only means they meet them upon leaving the factory. During actual renovations, panels are cut, spliced, reassembled, and painted, a process that damages the original structure and exposes the internal materials to air. Furthermore, processes like edge banding and gluing can increase pollution.

3. Superimposed pollution after decoration

After all renovations are completed, cumulative pollution can occur. Each piece of finishing material-board, curtains, latex paint-can be a small source of pollution. Furthermore, purchased furniture can also be a potential source of pollution within the living space. While a single source might meet national standards, the combined effects of all these pollution sources in the same space can easily exceed standards.

Choose safety board-live in a safe home

Most people assume that using eco-friendly decoration materials equals eco-friendly home decor, but the two are not the same. Whether a product is inherently eco-friendly and whether the overall home environment is eco-friendly is only a guideline; the final test before moving in is the most accurate. Therefore, after renovations are completed and furniture is in place, it's best to conduct a formaldehyde test by a reputable agency to ensure a truly safe and healthy home.
