What are the differences between ecological boards and blockboards?

Ecological boards and blockboards are two types of boards that are often used in the decoration industry. In terms of appearance, there is actually not much difference between them, but their production processes, raw materials, etc. are still very different.

1. What is an eco-board?

Eco-board, also known as melamine-coated or topcoated eco-board, is a decorative panel made by soaking paper of varying colors or textures in an eco-board resin adhesive, drying and curing it, then applying it to a hardboard surface like particleboard, moisture-proof board, and heat-pressing it. It's currently the preferred material for wardrobes, offering an environmentally friendly aesthetic, reasonable cost, and low formaldehyde content, making it a popular choice among customers.

2. The difference between ecological board and blockboard

Comparing eco-board with blockboard, the two differ in their raw materials. Eco-board is made from blockboard, particleboard, MDF, and other materials, with a decorative layer of melamine veneer on the surface. This characteristic is a key connection between the two. Blockboard is primarily made by hot-pressing and gluing two upper and lower standard boards to a core board. During production and processing, raw materials are maximized, resulting in excellent performance in processing, cutting, and decoration. Eco-board is paint-free and can be used directly, while blockboard requires advanced decoration before use.

There are also significant differences in their intended uses. Blockboard is primarily used for wardrobe construction. This requires veneering and painting, which increases formaldehyde emissions, resulting in high material and labor costs, and a significant time commitment. Therefore, for children's wardrobes, eco-friendly boards are often chosen. Eco-friendly boards do not require painting and can be used directly, are safe and environmentally friendly, and emit low levels of formaldehyde. Many consumers with high environmental awareness generally choose eco-friendly boards.
