How does a tree become a sheet of wood?

Humans have always used their wisdom to create things that didn't exist before, like wood. People in the past would never have imagined how a tree could become a piece of wood. Although wood has become a common item in today's society, every existing item is the result of human wisdom, and every product has its own unique laws. There are many varieties of wood, and different varieties have different production processes. They are not as uniform as people think.

Of course, if we want it to have additional functions, then we need to embed the corresponding attribute technology in a certain process of the board. Today we will learn about the most basic board and how a tree is turned into a board?

Taking blockboard as an example, the following steps are usually required: material preparation and processing → first gluing → first cold pressing → correction of blank board → first hot pressing → first puttying → thickness determination and sanding → second gluing → second hot and cold pressing → second puttying → surface board sanding → cutting of remaining edges.

Material preparation and processing: As the name suggests, it is to select standardized materials for processing, and pay close attention to moisture during processing to ensure that the moisture content meets the standards.

Glue application: Glue is selected based on the product's environmental rating. It's important to note that the environmental performance of the board is directly related to the glue used. The prepared glue is evenly applied to the mid-board using a glue application machine. The mid-board-core-mid-board structure is then assembled to form the base plate.

Cold pressing: Use a cold press to apply pressure to the substrate, so that the adhesive layer is pre-cured under pressure to generate adhesion between the layers.

Correction of blank: Correction of offset of the primary blank assembly to ensure that each layer of the reference edge/reference head is straight and the margin is guaranteed. At the same time, the overlapped parts of the seed plates are cut off or filled to ensure the flatness of the substrate surface.

Hot pressing: Use a hot press to fully solidify.

Scraping and filling: Repair and fill defects on the surface of the substrate.

Thickness sanding: Double-sided thickness sanding is performed on the middle board to ensure that the thickness of each blockboard is uniform.

After the above steps, the board will be glued twice, pressed hot and cold twice, and puttyed twice.

Surface sanding: Use a three-head sanding machine and select a set of sanding belts with appropriate mesh size to sand the surface of the blockboard to make the board surface flat, smooth and uniform.

Cutting margins: Cut according to product specifications. The edges of the processed boards are smooth and there is no obvious burrs.

After the above introduction, do you have a preliminary understanding of the basic processing flow of sheet metal? Do you also realize that there is so much knowledge involved in making an ordinary sheet metal?
