Whether you're choosing a custom home or hiring a carpenter to build cabinets, both require wood panels. As a primary finishing material, wood panels play a crucial role in cabinet construction. High-quality wood panels ensure the durability and environmental friendliness of cabinets. However, many people encounter numerous challenges when choosing wood panels. For example, they often look very similar, so how do you choose? Which wood panel is best for your home?
Today, let’s learn some knowledge about the types of boards.
Basic board materials: blockboard, multi-layer board, core board, integrated board
Blockboard (core board)
It's called "Big Core Board" because it has a solid wood core, flanked by a mid-panel and a top/back panel, for a total of five layers. When purchasing boards, you can choose from a variety of solid wood core materials and thicknesses. The most common core materials include fir, Malacca, poplar, and paulownia. The specific core material varies depending on the region, for example, fir is often used in southern China.
Multilayer board (plywood)
Plywood is one of the most commonly used base materials. It is made of three or more layers of veneer glued together (usually an odd number of layers). Depending on the thickness, it can be used for furniture customization, skirting boards, etc. 2.7/3.0mm: In decoration, it is mainly affixed to blockboard and used for processes such as paint mixing. The board surface must be flat and have good bonding strength. 5.0/9.0mm: It can be used as the bottom or back panel of furniture. 9mm can also be used as the base board for door and window frames, as well as skirting boards and some shapes. 12/15/18mm: It can be used directly to make furniture, etc.
OSB board
Our core boards are made from natural, large-diameter logs, with diameters exceeding 50cm. They are dense and durable, with flakes ranging from 3-8cm in length. We use ENF-rated MDI glue in our production process, and automated, mechanized production ensures consistent quality across every core board.
Integrated board (finger-jointed board)
Integrated boards are made of finger-jointed solid wood strips. They are the man-made boards that use the least glue among all base materials. They can be used in the production of interior decoration, flooring, wall panels, furniture and wood products, and are widely used.
At present, basic boards are mostly used for suspended ceilings, partitions, partition walls, etc., while people mainly use ecological boards when custom-making cabinets.
Ecological board (paint-free board)
Ecological board is also called paint-free board. Just as the name suggests, it does not require paint, which brings a lot of convenience. In recent years, the patterns of ecological boards have become more and more abundant. In addition to facing paper, stone patterns, cloth patterns, matte, glossy and skin-feel special processes have also been introduced.
Simply put, eco-board is composed of two parts: one is the base board mentioned above, and the other is what is now called the veneer. For example, the so-called fir paint-free board is a board composed of fir core blockboard (base board) + veneer paper.
Nowadays, there is a new member in the ecological board - the formaldehyde-removing and antibacterial board. This is a special board with added formaldehyde absorption and removal, mildew prevention and antibacterial functions. Rabbit Baby also has relevant patents for these functions. This is very remarkable among its peers and is also a great benefit for us consumers.
