The wardrobe is composed of cabinet body, door panels, hardware, etc. What kind of board should be used to make the wardrobe?

Generally speaking, there are several types of boards when making wardrobes. Let me share with you:

1. Plywood

Plywood is a sheet material made by peeling wood into single sheets or thin sheets, then gluing them together under a certain temperature and pressure for a certain period of time. Common types include three-ply, five-ply, nine-ply, and twelve-ply plywood (commonly known in the market as three-ply, five-ply, nine-ply, and twelve-ply boards). Common defects in plywood include low bond strength, blistering, localized delamination, and warping.

2. Density board

There are several types of density boards, and the thickness varies. If you are making a wardrobe, you will usually use 1, 2 or 1.5. However, the boards used to make wardrobes are generally called composite boards, which are divided into single-sided and double-sided boards, and have patterns. Composite boards will show some nail holes, which is not beautiful. Density boards are the most convenient to paint, and the construction process is between the two types. Wood boards can be connected by mortise and tenon, nails, and screws, and are the most convenient to construct, but surface treatment is the most troublesome of these types. Moisture-proof boards are particle boards, which are mostly veneered on the market. They do not require paint and are low in cost. They are now mostly used to make cabinet bodies. undefined

3. Core board

The cabinet core is made of 12 cm core board, the cabinet interior is made of fireproof board or waterproof wood grain paper. The exterior is made of 3 cm color panel (available on the market: sapele/black mahogany/red sandalwood/beech, etc.) It depends on your personal preference.

Core board also requires veneer, which will inevitably be painted. The cost is vastly different from composite board. Of course, the hardness and quality are definitely much better. Core board is a better choice for wardrobes. Finger-jointed boards of the same grade don't have the same strength coefficient as core board, especially given the larger spans of wardrobes, which require higher strength. If you want even greater strength with solid board, you'll need to apply veneer, which will increase the cost accordingly.

4. Painted board

Painted panels are based on density fiberboard, with the surface sprayed with imported paint six times (three primers, two top coats, and one gloss finish) and then baked at high temperatures. The term "painted" used in wardrobes currently refers to a process where the paint-treated panel is then dried in a drying oven after painting. Painted panels are characterized by vibrant colors, easy styling, and a strong visual impact. They are also very aesthetically pleasing and stylish, with excellent waterproof properties, strong stain resistance, and easy cleaning. However, their disadvantages are the high craftsmanship required and the high scrap rate, which contributes to their high price. They also require careful care during use, avoiding bumps and scratches. Damage is difficult to repair and requires complete replacement. Color variations are also more likely to occur in kitchens with high levels of cooking smoke.
